FAQs..

When to book...

With all the planning that goes into a new baby why not plan your newborn shoot? Contact me 2-3 months before your due date so we can tentatively get your newborn session on the books. We will plan for around the due date and as soon as you have your baby, we can select an exact date. Newborn sessions take place in my home studio in Sanger during the weekday mornings. I do not travel to client homes due to the large amounts of props and lighting needed for these sessions. The ideal time to photograph your baby is between 4-10 days old so they are nice and sleepy for me to get those beautiful dreamy poses.

How long will the session last...

Each newborn session is allotted a 2-3 hour window, allowing enough time for feeding, diapering and comforting infant to get them back into poses.

What should I bring…

You do not need to bring any of your own props. I have plenty to choose from (blankets, baskets, wraps, and headbands). Newborns will be photographed naked to show off all their curves and details both on the posing bag, and in/on props. Babies can also be wrapped in various fabrics and wraps. You are always welcome to bring in any special props or personal items to include in your session. If your baby takes a pacifier or bottle, bring these to comfort them between poses.

How do I prepare for the newborn session…

Dress your baby in a simple onesie or outfit that is easily taken off. Before the session, try to keep your baby awake an hour before so when you arrive at the studio or on location, a feeding will help baby fall into a deep sleep, so they are easily posed. If you have pumped milk, you can bring it and we can so we can feed/comfort your baby between poses. Pacifiers can also aid in comforting your baby if they take one. A private room is available for breastfeeding mother as well as an area to change your babies diapers.

I do keep the environment warm to help baby stay relaxed and comfortable so parents are recommended to dress in layers to avoid being too hot.

If planning on incorporating siblings or parents into the shoot, bring an outfit or two to add some variety to the images. I recommend that if siblings are brought to be in the pictures, parents take separate cars so they are able to leave after sibling/family poses and we can focus on the newborn. We will try to do these shots first so the sibling(s) doesn't get restless.

Things to Consider...

Some important things to consider before your session are what color or themes you would like to incorporated into the session.. Whether it be just feminine or masculine colors or colors to coordinate with the baby's nursery. These ideas will help guide us in preparing for the session and making sure your style is represented in the photographs. My style of newborn photography is very timeless, with minimal props and just enough detail to highlight your baby.
